Depending on the specialty of the practitioner and the plan you make with them, these sessions can include:

Talk Therapy: the process of helping you identify issues that are causing you emotional distress, and support you in developing strategies and solutions for coping. You may be needing to navigate more complex issues such as anxiety or depression, or you may simply need a safe place to discuss feelings and emotions triggered by daily stressors, relationship issues, grief and loss or the impact of a specific trauma.

EMDR: Eye Movement, Desensitization, Reprogramming has been extensively researched and demonstrated as a highly-effective method for helping people recover from trauma and other challenges, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and panic disorders, among others.

IFS-Informed Therapy: Frequently used as an evidence-based psychotherapy, helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. Informed by the Internal Family Systems model.

Everyone is intertwined with their unique individual and social contexts and is doing the best they currently can. Counselling, then, cannot be a one-size-fits-all undertaking but rather must be a flexible and dynamic process that requires different tools to approach each challenge. My expanding toolkit draws from my own diverse personal and professional history, as well as narrative therapy, client-centered therapy, mindfulness and self-compassion practices, EMDR, and CBT.

We can only work within what we know and, as we apply new tools to expand our ways of knowing, we actively change our worlds. By engaging genuinely and compassionately, we create conditions that allow for growth that otherwise would not occur. Through past challenges I have learned the value of having a safe space to explore new ways of understanding, and I strive to help create that space for clients.

I spent 15 years in engineering, and have also worked in sawmills, renovations contracting, mechanics, solar power, and park development. I’ve taught martial arts and self-defence, and have travelled to 30 different countries. I’ve lived the challenges of marriage, divorce, family mental health and substance use, am a half-time single parent of two young children, and am constantly working to evolve.
